17th Battalion CEF

The 17th battalion was organized at Camp Valcartier and composed of recruits from Nova Scotia and one company from Toronto, with a strength of 44 officers and 624 other ranks. The battalion embarked from Quebec on 30 September 1914, on the troop ship Ruthenia, and disembarked in the UK on 14 October.

16th Battalion CEF

The 16th battalion was organized at Camp Valcartier and composed of recruits from Victoria, Vancouver, Winnipeg and Hamilton, with a strength of 47 officers and 1111 other ranks. The battalion embarked from Quebec on 30 September 1914, on the troop ship Andania, and disembarked in the UK on 14 October, and arrived in France on 7 February 1915.

15th Battalion CEF

The 15th battalion was organized at Camp Valcartier and composed of recruits from the Toronto area, with a strength of 46 officers and 1109 other recruits. The battalion embarked from Quebec on 3 October 1914, on the troop ship Megantic, and disembarked in the UK on 14 October, and arrived in France 14 February 1915. 

14th Battalion CEF

The 14th battalion was organized in Camp Valcartier and composed of recruits from Montreal, Quebec, with a strength of 46 officers and 1101 other ranks. The battalion embarked from Quebec on 30 September 1914, on the troop ships Alaunia and Andania, and disembarked in the UK on 16 October, and arrived in France on 10 February 1915.

13th Battalion CEF

The 13th battalion was organized in Camp Valcartier and composed of recruits from Montreal, Quebec, with a strength of 45 officers and 1110 other ranks. The battalion embarked from Quebec on 25 September 1914, on the troop ship Alaunia, and disembarked in the UK on 16 October, and arrived in France on 16 February 1915.

12th Battalion CEF

The 12th battalion was organized in Camp Valcartier and composed of recruits from New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Quebec, with a strength of 54 officers and 1156 other ranks. The battalion embarked from Quebec on 1 October 1914, on the troop ship Scotian, and disembarked in the UK on 14 October.

11th Battalion CEF

The 11th battalion was organized in Camp Valcartier and composed of recruits from Manitoba and Saskatchewan, with a strength of 45 officers and 1134 other ranks. The battalion embarked from Quebec on 2 October 1914, on the troop ship Royal Edward, and disembarked in the UK on 14 October.

10th Battalion CEF

The 10th battalion was organized in Camp Valcartier and composed of recruits from Calgary and Winnipeg, with a strength of 43 officers and 1051 other ranks. The battalion embarked from Quebec on 29 September 1914, on the troop ship Scandinavian, and disembarked in the UK on 14 October, and arrived in France on 7 February 1915.

9th Battalion CEF

The 9th battalion was organized in Camp Valcartier and composed of recruits from Edmonton, Alberta, with a strength of 49 officers and 1118 other ranks. The battalion embarked from Quebec on 1 October 1914, on the troop ship Zeeland, and disembarked in the UK on 18 October. The battalion became a reserve battalion on 29 April 1915, and was absorbed by the 56th, 63rd, 66th and part of the 82nd battalions.

8th Battalion CEF

The 8th battalion was organized in Camp Valcartier and composed of recruits from Winnipeg and 96th Lake Superior regiment of the active militia, with a strength of 47 officers and 1106 other ranks. The battalion embarked from Quebec City on 1 October 1914, on the troop ship Franconia, and disembarked in the UK on 14 October, and arrived in France 13 February 1915.
