241st Battalion CEF
The 241st battalion was recruited in Windsor, Sarnia, London, Chatham, St. Thomas, Woodstock and Amherstburg, and mobilized in Windsor, Ontario, with a strength of 21 officers and 625 other ranks. The battalion embarked from Halifax on 29 April 1917, on the troop ship Olympic, and disembarked in the UK on 7 May.
240th Battalion CEF
The 240th battalion was recruited in Renfrew and Lanark counties, and mobilized in Renfrew, Quebec, with a strength of 14 officers and 375 other ranks. The battalion embarked from Halifax on 4 May 1917, on the troop ship Megantic, and disembarked in the UK on 14 May.
245th Battalion CEF
The 245th battalion was recruited in the Montreal district and mobilized in Montreal, Quebec, with a strength of 16 officers and 274 other ranks. The battalion embarked from Halifax on 3 May 1917, on the troop ship Justicia, and disembarked in the UK on 13 May.
253rd Battalion CEF
The 253rd Battalion was recruited in Kingston, Cornwall and Cobalt, and mobilized in Kingston, Ontario, with a strength of 17 officers and 461 other ranks. The battalion embarked from Halifax on 29 April 1917, on the troop ship Olympic, and disembarked in the UK on 7 May.
News from a Casualty Clearing Station
The Canadian Army Medical Corps and British Expeditionary Force published the CCS Review from the casualty clearing stations close to the frontlines. These stations were to assess and treat wounded soldiers from the front, those of able body were returned their units, others were sent to a field hospital.
239th Battalion CEF
The 239th Battalion was recruited throughout Canada amongst experienced railwaymen, and mobilized at Valcartier, Quebec, with a strength of 738 other ranks. The battalion embarked from Halifax on 20 December 1916, on the troop ship Olympia, and disembarked in the UK on 26 December.
238th Battalion CEF
The 238th Battalion was recruited in Ontario and western Canada, with recruiting depots in Toronto, Winnipeg, Sault Ste Marie and Calgary, and mobilized in Ottawa, Ontario, with a strength of 44 officers and 1082 other ranks. The battalion embarked from Halifax on 13 September 1916 on the troop ship Scandinavian, and disembarked in the UK on 22 September.
237th Battalion CEF
The 237th battalion was recruited in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Quebec, and mobilized in Sussex, British Columbia. The unit was absorbed by the 97th battalion on 12 September 1916, prior to leaving Canada.
236th Battalion CEF
The 236th battalion was recruited in Canada and New England, and mobilized in Fredericton, New Brunswick, with a strength of 27 officers and 1029 other ranks. The battalion embarked from Halifax on 9 November 1917, on the troop ship Canada, and disembarked in the UK on 19 November.
235th Battalion CEF
The 235th battalion was recruited in Northumberland, Durham and Hastings counties. Trek through Northumberland and Durham, 5 September to 26 October 1916, and mobilized in Bowmanville, Ontario, with a strength of 19 officers and 438 other ranks. The battalion embarked from Halifax on 3 May 1917, on the troop ship Metagama, and disembarked in the UK on 14 May.
