252nd Battalion CEF

The 252nd battalion was recruited in Victoria and Haliburton counties, and mobilized in Lindsay, Ontario, with a strength of 6 officers and 127 other ranks. The battalion embarked from Halifax on 2 June 1917, on the troop ship Olympic, and disembarked in the UK on 9 June. The battalion was absorbed by the 6th Canadian Reserve Battalion on 10 June.

251st Battalion CEF

The 251st battalion was recruited in the Winnipeg district, and mobilized in Winnipeg, Manitoba, with a strength of 4 officers and 168 other ranks. Draft of 4 officers and 171 other ranks embarked from Halifax 6 October 1917, on the troop ship Metagama, and disembarked in the UK on 17 October. The battalion was absorbed by the 18th Canadian Reserve Battalion on 17 October 1917, and the remaining ranks were sent to 1 Depot Battalion, Manitoba Regiment in Winnipeg.

250th Battalion CEF

The 250th battalion was recruited in the Winnipeg district and mobilized in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The battalion was absorbed by the 249th Battalion at Valcartier on 10 October 1917.

249th Battalion CEF

The 249th battalion was recruited in Regina, Saskatoon, Swift Current, Moosomin, Weyburn, Melville, Maple Creek and Estevan, and mobilized in Regina, Saskatchewan, with a strength of 15 officers and 709 other ranks. Absorbed the 250th Battalion on 10 October 1917. The battalion embarked from Halifax on 21 February 1918, on the troop ships Saxonia and Megantic, and disembarked in the UK on 4 March. The battalion was absorbed by the 15th Canadian Reserve Battalion on 6 March 1918.

248th Battalion CEF

The 248th battalion was recruited in Grey County and Toronto, and mobilized in Owen Sound, Ontario, with a strength of 13 officers and 259 other ranks. The battalion embarked from Halifax on 2 June 1917, on the troop ship Olympic, and disembarked in the UK on 9 June.

247th Battalion CEF

The 247th battalion was recruited in Peterborough, North Hastings and Cavan township, and mobilized in Peterborough, Ontario. The battalion was disbanded in Canada on 4 April 1917 under provisions of Section 22(2) of the Militia Act.

246th Battalion CEF

The 246th battalion was recruited in Nova Scotia and mobilized in Halifax, Nova Scotia, with a strength of 16 officers and 320 other ranks. The battalion embarked from Halifax on 2 June 1917, on the troop ship Olympic, and disembarked in the UK on 9 June, and were absorbed by the 17th Canadian Reserve Battalion on 10 June.

244th Battalion CEF

The 244th battalion was recruited in Montreal, Quebec City, Three Rivers, Grand’Mère and Sherbrooke, and mobilized in Montreal, Quebec, with a strength of 27 officers and 604 other ranks. The battalion embarked from Halifax on 28 March 1917, on the troop ship Lapland, and disembarked in the UK on 10 April. 

243rd Battalion CEF

The 243rd battalion was recruited in Prince Albert, North Battleford, Saskatoon and Yorkton, and mobilized in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, with a strength of 16 officers and 391 other ranks. The battalion embarked from Halifax on 2 June 1917, on the troop ship Olympic, and disembarked in the UK on 9 June.

242nd Battalion CEF

The 242nd battalion was recruited in all provinces except Manitoba and Prince Edward Island, and mobilized in Montreal, Quebec, with a strength of 44 officers and 1006 other ranks. Originally organized as the 242nd Pioneer Battalion, it became a Forestry Battalion on 1 October 1916. The battalion embarked from Halifax on 24 November 1916, on the troop ship Mauritania, and disembarked in the UK on 30 November.
