The War Measures Act: What is Total War?
Students will come away from this assignment with a good understanding of the effects of the Second World War on Canada, particularly the degree of control the government exerted over the daily running of society through the use of the War Measures Act.
This lesson will enable students to explore the extent of the Canadian war effort as enabled by the War Measures Act. They will be asked to answer questions that examine concepts of total war and the effects it had on everyday life in Canada.
