87th Battalion CEF
The 87th battalion was recruited in Gaspé, Eastern Townships, Pembroke, Dundas County and the mining districts of Ontario and Quebec and mobilized in Montreal, Quebec, with a strength of 36 officers and 1026 other ranks. The battalion embarked from Halifax on 25 April 1916, on the troop ship Empress of Britain, and disembarked in the UK on 5 May.
