Control Calling

Control Calling was a newsletter printed at the R.A.F. Woolsington Airfield and Base near Newcastle Upon Tyne in England. This station welcomed many Allied soldiers as part of training exchange programs during the Second World War, hosting too several Canadian R.C.A.F. servicemen.

165th Battalion CEF

The 165th battalion was recruited Acadians in the maritime provinces, and mobilized in Moncton, New Brunswick, with a strength of 24 officers, and 526 other ranks. The battalion embarked from Halifax on 28 march, 1917, on the troop ship Metagama, and disembarked from the UK on 7 April. 

164th Battalion CEF

The 164th battalion was recruited in Halton and Dufferin counties, and mobilized in Orangeville, Ontario, with a strength 26 officers and 710 other ranks. The battalion embarked from Halifax on 11 April, 1917, on the troop ship Carpathia, and disembarked in the UK on 22 April. 

163rd Battalion CEF

The 163rd battalion was recruited from the province Quebec, and mobilized in Montreal in two waves. The first with a strength of 33 officers and 659 other ranks, and the second with a strength of 38 officers and 659 other ranks. The first wave of the battalion embarked from Halifax on 26 May, 1916, on the troop ship Metagama, and disembarked in Bermuda on 29 May. The second wave disembarked from Halifax on 27 November, 1916, on the troop ship Metagama, and disembarked in the UK 6 December.

162nd Battalion CEF

The 162nd battalion was recruited in the Parry Sound district and mobilized in Parry sound, Ontario with a strength of 30 officers and 766 other ranks. The battalion embarked from Halifax on 1 November, 1916, on the troop ship Caronia, and disembarked in the UK on 11 November. 

161st Battalion CEF

The 161st battalion was recruited in Huron county, and mobilized in London, Ontario, with a strength of 28 officers and 749 other ranks. The battalion embarked from Halifax on 1 November, 1916, on the troop ship Lapland, and disembarked in the UK on 11 November. 

160th Battalion CEF

The 160th battalion was recruited in Bruce county and mobilized in Walkerton, Ontario, with a strength of 31 officers and 974 other ranks. The battalion embarked from Halifax on 18 October, 1916, on the troop ship Metagama, and disembarked in the UK on 28 October. 

159th Battalion CEF

The 159th battalion was recruited in the districts of Nipissing and Sudbury, and mobilized in Haileybury, Ontario, with a strength of 32 officers and 972 other ranks. The battalion embarked from Halifax on 1 November, 1916, on the troop ship Empress of Britain, and disembarked in the UK on 11 November.

158th Battalion CEF

The 158th battalion was recruited and mobilized in Vancouver, British Columbia, with a strength of 31 officers and 966 other ranks. The battalion embarked from Halifax on 14 November, 1916 on the troop ship Olympic and disembarked in the UK on 20 November.

157th Battalion CEF

The 157th battalion was recruited in Simcoe county and mobilized in Barrie, Ontario with a strength of 32 officers and 966 other ranks. The battalion embarked from Halifax on 18 October, 1916 on the troop ship Cameronia, and disembarked in the UK on 28 October.
